Why is it that everytime I see some self proclaimed "old schooler" punk he is wearing some god awful plaid pants. I never understood where and when this originated. But I must say that I find it pretty retarded. I mean, half of the pants that I see these people wearing have the same print as my P.J. bottoms. There must be a sweatshop somewhere that had lil Haitian kids making this crap for Hot Topic or Gadzooks or some other mall store. Anyone have any info on the history of plaid in punk, or any opinion on how retarded/cool it looks to be in it?

i've always had a thing for patterns. i like plaid, argyle, stripes, some polka dots, etc.
i especially like mixing patterns. it creates a bizarre visual effect. i don't know why people think clashing is such a terrible thing; i prefer looking at an interesting combination over a matching, baby blue wigger outfit any day.
LONG LIVE FUNKY PATTERNS!!!

Well, not that I am knocking clashing or wearing patterns, to each his own, and if you are the right body type anything works for ya. But I just couldn't understand why I constantly see these lil teeny bopper punker kids wearing skin tight red plaid pants with buckles on them. I dunno. Maybe they are trying to be Noticed, or Cool or something. It just never caught on with me, the only plaid I wear is my P.J's or my boxers, or an occasional flannel.

silly rabbit, they wear plaid because hot topic is choked with it. it therefore MUST be cool. because hot topic is the cutting edge of alternative fashion.

Any of these "Old School Punks" will tell you that P.J. plaid makes the best Punk Rock plaid pants! Also: The tops make awesome shirts as well! Most of the manufactured Punk clothing is made in the US or UK, so no little Haitian kid put there drity hands in them! That is why this stuff is so expensive. It is kinda a oxymoron.

Well.. I'll have to remember that and bust out my P.J.'s for the next show. Hell, maybe Ican get one of those night-time nappy caps with the pom on the end of it. Will I be more stylish then? I was going to ( and this was some time ago) take all the plaid grunge shirts that I owned ( which at the time was quite a few), cut them up into little pieces, sew the pieces together and stuff with cotton, and make a quilt. But, lack of motivation made me give everything to St. Vinny's.
